The Waroona Self Storage facility was built back in 1998 originally with only 32 units. Though at the time it was not owned by the current owners, Glenn and Jean Hewett, Jean was involved from its onset as the managing agent until leaving the real estate industry in 2011. This gave Jean many years of hands-on experience in the storage industry.
The business was purchased by us in 2012 and that is when the name changed to Waroona Self Storage and also when things really started changing. At the time, there were only 46 units & only 3 different storage unit sizes available. In 2013 there were another 12 units built, extending the facility towards South West Highway. The plan was to extend even further towards the highway but it was thought it may be another 5-10 years away depending on the demand. Demand was so good, portable units were brought in to assist with the growth until yet another expansion could be completed. That was in 2015, so in 2016, another 24 units were built & the business now offers 90 units as well as parking bays with ground-anchored chains (at the rear of the property) for caravans, boats, trailers etc.
It is still a work-in-progress with more landscaping, drainage, asphalt & even more buildings to be done in the future.
When purchased & re-named Waroona Self Storage in 2012, we joined the Self Storage Association of Australasia (SSAA) to keep up-to-date with the industry as a whole and giving us access to SSAA contracts, advice, current trends and industry changes.
The facility is professionally managed by a reputable real estate agency with a Property Management team member attending seminars and legal training through the SSAA.
